Boron [B] is a fairly rare element on Earth.

Boron is found in numerous compounds; most commonly are borax and kernite, which are found in sedimentary rock formations. Boron is a metalloid, which means that its properties are in between that of a metal and a nonmetal, and is an important mineral for plant life. It act as a major growth factor and often used in fertilizers. Boron is a very hard element, and very resistant to heat. In crystal form it is the second hardest of all the elements only diamond is harder. Boron burns with a green flame, the distinctive colour makes it very useful in fireworks.
