Färglös och färgsprakande [Ne]
Neon [Ne] är ett sällsynt grundämne, endast små spår kan hittas i vår atmosfär och i jordskorpan. Mer vanligt är neon i vårt universum och i stjärnorna. Neon skapas genom fusion mellan helium och syrei stjärnorna, kallat alfa processen.
Neon är under normal förhålladen en luktfri och färglös gas och är den andra ädelgasen i vårt periodiska system. Grundämnet är på grund av dess elektronkonfiguration en inert gas, vilket innebär att det inte vill eller kan reagera med andra ämnen.
Gasen innesluten i ett glasrör med vakumm och en elektrisk ström skickas genom glöder neon med en rödaktig ljus.Den största användningen av neon är att göra gasfyllnad i lysrör - "neonskyltar" för reklam. Det är bara de röda skyltar som innehåller ren neon. Skyltar med andra färger innehåller andra gaser, men trots det så används ofta namnet neon-skylt som en samlingsterm för lysande färger.
Neon används också för att göra högspännings indikatorer och omkopplings redskap, dykutrustning och lasrar.

Colorless and colour glowing [Ne]
Neon [Ne] is a rare element on our planet, only small traces can be found in our atmosphere and in the crust of the earth. Neon is a more common out in the universe and in the stars. It is created during the alpha process of stars, when helium and oxygen are fused together.Neon is a colorless and odorless gas under standard conditions, and is the second noble gas in the periodic table.
The element is due to its electron configuration an inert gas, which means that it’s incredibly non-reactive and will not create compounds with other elements. When the gas is place in a glass tube and an electric current is sent through the gas (a vacuum discharge tube) it glows with a reddish-orange light
The largest use of neon is in making ‘neon signs’ for advertising. It is only the red signs that contain pure neon. The other colour-signs even though the term neon-sign is commonly used have different gases to give different colours.
Neon is also used to make high-voltage indicators and switching gear, diving equipment and lasers.
